Spouse Visa in Thailand

In Thailand, a spouse visa is also referred to as a marriage visa or a non-immigrant “O” visa. This visa is intended for foreign nationals who are married to Thais or permanent residents and who wish to stay in Thailand for an extended period of time with their spouse.

The following prerequisites must be satisfied in order to be granted a spouse visa in Thailand:

  • You have to be lawfully married to a Thai national or lawful permanent resident.
  • A marriage certificate and evidence of financial support are required to prove your ability to sustain yourself while traveling in Thailand.
  • You must have a passport that is currently valid and has at least six months left on it.
  • To be sure you don’t have any contagious diseases, you must get checked out by a doctor.
  • To demonstrate that you don’t have a criminal past, you must have a police clearance certificate from your home country.

You will need to present documentation of your relationship with your Thai spouse, such as pictures and letters.

You can apply for a spouse visa at the Thai embassy or consulate in your country if you have fulfilled these requirements. After the initial 90 days have passed, you can ask for a stay extension at the nearby Thai immigration office.

It’s crucial to understand that you cannot work in Thailand with a spouse visa. You must get a work permit separately if you want to work.
